Case Study 5 – Small-sized event – Symposium organisation and management for university academics/professors:

Tasks:
To organise and manage a one-day non-residential symposium for ~50 participants at a University of Oxford affiliate college:
o For approximately 50 participants
o Held over a day
The customer wanted us to:
o Find an appropriate venue for the meeting
o Set up a dedicated website with online registration and abstract submission
o Liaise with the venue and negotiate pricing, catering, menus, etc
o Point of contact for delegates for any logistical queries
o Liaise with the speakers and collect presentations, including dealing with any specific IT requirements
o Open the event; make health and safety announcement and any additional announcements
o Full site management, including, for example, staffing, site preparation, IT/AV equipment and WiFi, point of contact for delegates and speakers
Conclusion:
This project was completed to the customer’s satisfaction, meeting all set goals. Here are a few words from the academics colleagues:
