There are considerable challenges in the clinical care of Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa. King’s Sierra Leone Partnership have been based in Freetown for the past two years, working in close collaboration with partners in Connaught Hospital, the only adult referral hospital in the country, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, and the College of Medicine & Allied Health Services. This presentation will cover the disease emergence in Sierra Leone, difficulties in early containment and control, symptom presentation, local epidemiology of disease, and ongoing issues regarding clinical management, logistics, command and control structures, and cultural sensitivities.
